We had visitors from south Georgia this past weekend. Nonna, Gampy, Aunt Shonya, cousin Raven and Gates filled our guest rooms and helped us get settled in a little more. Raven couldn't wait to take a bubble bath after waking up Saturday morning, and Gates entertained us with many smiles. At one point, we had a cat running through the house. I think all of the excitement wore Gates and Oti out! The weekend ended with a trip to a pumpkin patch. We went on a hay ride, saw farm animals, pumpkins and gourds. We can't wait until next year when little Greenway can go, too! It was a fun time for us all and we look forward to the next visit.
After some anxious weeks of waiting, some sore back muscles, and a lot of excitement we're all moved into our new home. We're going with the minimalist look for a little while, but still ecstatic that we have a place to call our own. I can't get Amber to stop working and making plans for the decor. We have a want list a mile long already. Oti is as happy as she can be with HER(at least until daddy's little girl is here) new backyard. Amber is still feeling good and little Greenway is turning flips constantly - we like to lay in bed and try to catch a peak at a kick or punch. We're also doing all we can to prepare for her arrival - against all odds, I put together the crib given to us by Nonna and Gampy(the Davis'). We've got a ways to go, but feel like we have a good start on the Greenway family.
At week 18, I thought I felt the baby but wasn't sure. This week (week 19), I could tell that it was the baby I was feeling. Now I find myself waiting to feel something throughout the day. Tonight as we were waiting on the GA/TN game to start, I felt her again. So, Brett and I started starring at my belly and actually saw two little kicks! She was cheering for the DAWGS!
Tuesday afternoon rolled around and we were hoping the nurse would be able to tell us whether we we were going to be shopping for pink or blue. I had been thinking it was girl for a while, but it didn't matter to us either way. After the nurse said she thought she knew what it was, I thought I saw what looked like a boy, but Brett and the nurse saw something else. IT'S A GIRL!!! After the nurse walked out, Brett asked if we were going to put an offer on the house now that we knew it was girl, and we did! What a week...we found out that we're going to have a daughter and we found out that we're closing on our first house on October 19. We have many blessings to count!
It was the Sunday of week 16 and we took a drive through a few neighborhoods with Aunt Paige, Uncle Jerrod and cousin Brock. Aunt Paige talked us into stopping at an open house. It really grabbed our attention as we walked in seeing the hardwoods, the fenced-in backyard, the 4 out of 5 bedrooms...but when we walked into the 5th bedroom, I stopped in my tracks. It was PERFECT! The walls were painted exactly the way we were planning on painting our baby's room. Light and dark pink stripes...if it's a girl that is...it could easily be changed to light and dark blue...white built-in shelves...We definitely liked the house. To make an offer or not to make an offer. We only had two days until we found out whether we were having a boy or a girl. Monday night rolled around and we decided that if it's a girl, we'd make an offer by Wednesday.
At 11 weeks we went back to see and hear more of Baby Greenway. It was so cool to see how much he/she had grown in only 2 weeks...and to hear the heartbeat for the very first time. There are no words to express just how amazing it is. 171 beats per minute...if the old wives' tales are true, we could be having ourselves a little girl!!???
At 9 weeks and 1 day, we had our first doctor's visit. A little anxious and nervous, but a lot of excited, we were relieved at the first site of our baby. It was absolutely amazing that we could see the head, arms and legs this early in the game. We left there knowing that in a couple of days we'd finally be able to tell our families our news.
We're a little behind on starting a blog...So, we'll rewind 5 months. After taking a home pregnancy test and realizing that + does in fact = you're pregnant, I stood there in shock and so much excitement I didn't know what to do next. Brett was out of town for two more days and there was no way I could keep it a secret until then. I took a picture of the test with my camera phone and prepared an email with the subject - I have only one question for you...I waited a very long hour or so before he called me letting me know he would be going out to eat soon. I asked him to call me before he left because there was something I wanted to show him that I had emailed him. When he called me back, he opened the email, read the subject and I asked him if he was ready to be a daddy. He had to scroll down a good ways and right above the picture it said, "I love you, Daddy." After a couple of "NO WAY's"and "Are you serious?" I convinced him that we were indeed expecting a BABY!!! He then expressed his excitement with "THAT'S AWESOME" & "I'm going to be a daddy!" We were very excited to say the least and were very ready to be back together. Now, only 4 more weeks until our first doctor's visit...way too long for this impatient mommy-to-be!
