Whooo's Turning 2???

Avery's turning 2! In 4 days, our funny, loving baby girl is turning 2. The past year seems like a blur. Who am I kidding?! This past summer seems like a blur! And, although, she IS about to have another birthday, this post is about her very 1st one. I sorta went on a blog vacay last Fall ... missed out on sharing a lot, but, hey, what a fine time to sit back and reflect.

I have a love for owls, but I didn't pick an owl theme just for me ;) Avery's lovie is an owl and she's still LOVING her "Hoo Hoo."  I have to admit though, I did have a lot of fun putting everything together and I remember being "surprisingly" emotional the day of her party ... same as I was the day of Briley's 1st party. Another "1st" came and was all of the sudden gone, you know? Anyway, we kept it small and intimate with family and close friends. Avery wanted nothing to do with her cake (same as Briley ;) and we realized after the party that she was running a fever (another "same as Briley.") It was still a special day celebrating our baby though.

Avery has brought so much love and laughter into our family. She often cracks us up with her out of the blue phrases and melts our hearts with her spontaneous hugs and kisses. I love how she'll often see us across the room and act as if it's been a week since she's seen us. She'll throw her arms out wide while running to me and yelling, "MOMMY!" She finishes it off with a long hug. I also love the way she says "Briley." It's more like "Briweee." Oh, how she loves her big sister. She gets so disappointed when she wakes up from her nap and Briley is still sleeping. She ask, "Briweee?" I'll tell her that Briley's still sleeping and she'll say, "No Briwee seepin." Sweet girl.

Here are some pictures from last year ...
I loved the fact that my sister came just in time to help me set everything up. Her pretzel nests were precious. Also loved how I was able to use a few crystal dishes and the beautiful table cloth. They belonged to Brett's grandmother and they had just been passed down to us a few weeks before Avery's party. The blue and pink dishes belonged to my grandmother. All added a sentimental touch to a very special day.
Being silly with Gampy.
The 1 year figurine belonged to me :) As you can tell, Avery was not interested in the sugar mass in front of her ...

Our attempt to get the party started ...
"WHAT is this stuff and WHY is it on my hand?!"
Not a fan ;) So, we removed her from the situation and all was right again!
The shoe obsession has only grown stronger. The girl loooves her shoes and everyone else's!
Love, love this picture with Nonna.
The following day was her actual birthday. We tried the cake again, but ... still NOT a fan! :)
Briley encouraged and it caused her to stop crying for a second ...
Oh, if only I looked at sweets like this! Ha!

We're looking forward to celebrating your 2nd birthday, Avery Kate. We love you and thank God for you!!
