Lucky-Penny Surprise!

After battling a runny nose over the weekend, Briley started running a fever on Monday. So, we took another trip to see the doctor Tuesday morning to find that she has a sinus infection. After running a few errands, we made our way back home where a Disney package was waiting by the front door. Hmmmmm, Disney...I opened the box and quickly noticed that someone had to have been paying attention to her new love for Dalmatians. Briley was the owner of cute Lucky and sweet Penny puppies sent by Aunt Valerie and Uncle Kyle. I think it's safe to say that she was extremely excited about her Lucky Penny Surprise! (Even more so than Cocoa...The surprise we bought her in St. Simons!) Thank you Aunt Val and Uncle Kyle. It was perfect timing and meant more than you know! We love you and miss you!

The Weekend of Firsts, Continued...

Sunday morning, Sara took day after pictures of Courtney and Casey at a driftwood beach on Jekyll Island. We met them afterwards for family pictures of our own. This was Briley’s first trip to a beach and she LOVED it! We held her hands while she enjoyed wading in the water and Daddy found her first seashell to take back home. Once again, she was a doll and we are so thankful that our friend was there to capture these sweet moments. Here's a slideshow!

The Weekend of Firsts

Our weekend began Thursday evening by driving to Guyton to stay with Brett’s cousin, Clay, and his wife, Vanessa. Even though it was a quick visit, we thoroughly enjoyed our time with them. They made us feel at home and Briley took to them right away. She even warmed up to their sweet lab, Dixie and their terrier, Tybee. We hope to stay longer next time.

Friday morning, we were off to St. Simons to begin the wedding festivities for Aunt Court and Uncle Casey. I enjoyed a quick pampering at the nail salon with the girls while Daddy and Briley spent some quality time together. A couple of hours later, we all met at Lovely Lane Chapel at Epworth by the Sea for the rehearsal so that both Briley and I could run through our roles for the big day. And so begins our “first” for the weekend…Briley preparing for her first flower girl gig. By this time, she was pretty exhausted so she wasn’t all into the walking down the aisle thing quite yet. We weren’t too worried though…Parents always have a back up plan or three. Afterwards, Daddy and Briley were off to the Inn for a quick nap while Sara and I ran up to the King and Prince to do reception stuff. Later, we enjoyed a low country boil at Village Creek Landing and then called it a night!
Saturday morning, Daddy enjoyed a morning of golf with the guys while Briley and I had girl time. We had brunch with the lovely bride and bridesmaids, and Briley had fun playing (and doing some toddler exploring). Nonna was an angel and arrived around lunch time to help with the little munchkin while I finished getting ready for pictures and Daddy was wrapping up his game.
And then it was time for the big moment…All of the planning, preparing, praying, and dressing was over and the absolutely stunning bride was in her place. The bridesmaids walked down the aisle and Briley and the handsome little ring bearer stepped up to play out their roles. She walked a few steps while Hunter followed through and actually came up to me to hold or hug him…very cute! In the meantime, Daddy was great at being Briley’s assistant as they walked down the aisle and out the other end of the chapel. She was a doll though…the ENTIRE day, from the moment she woke up to the time she laid down for the night. I must add that it was a true blessing being a part of Courtney and Casey’s wedding. Their ceremony was the sweetest and most meaningful I have ever witnessed…We’re so happy for them.
The reception was a blast and we didn’t know just how much Briley loves loud band music until they started playing. She was drawn to the dance floor and the first to step out onto it. She definitely stole some attention. Shortly afterwards, Nonna and Briley made their exit while Brett and I enjoyed celebrating with everyone. All in all, the wedding couldn’t have been more perfect and neither could our sweet daughter.

She's a changin'!

The picture to the right was taken the week after her first birthday. I've been slack in keeping up with the blog, but wanted to share this one even though she's changed so much in such little time...It's one of my favorites!
Here are a few pictures of her hanging out with Beau and G.G. on G.G.'s birthday last week!
In the previous post, I mentioned her love for the 101 Dalmatians movie. Well, she was a bit cranky after we got home last night because her two bottom, one year old molars broke through yesterday. I was hoping that some puppy time would do the trick. I think it worked! She also had a good time cleaning out/organizing our cabinets while I cooked.
Another thing she's doing now is pointing to her (or your) eyes, nose and head when you ask her to...sometimes mouth. She's growing and changing so fast each week. I treasure every second...I could just eat 'er up!
