Grant Update - Post Op

See Leah's update below ... Thank you, Lord, for answering our prayers. Please continue to keep them in your prayers as they go through recovery.

Hello All,

Grant is out of surgery and stable.  They were able to go in laproscopically rather than with a huge incision.    His left lung is about 1/2 to 3/4 the size of his right which is great considering that all of his large and small intestines, stomach and spleen were in fact stuck up in his lung cavity.   It was not a hole in the diaphragm but turns out his diaphragm is actually missing completely on the back left side- like it just stopped forming back there.  That made it really hard to put on a patch so they had to stitch the patch thru the inside of his skin and actually wrap it around his rib cage on the back side. We were not expecting that at all but sounds like they were able to make it work.   

All in all a pretty good update.  Our Feather Weight Champion made it thru the surgery really really well so we are thrilled on the inside, just overwhelmed and beyond exhausted on the outside.  Heath and I are anxiously waiting for them to let us see him sometime after 8pm.

Sweet Baby Grant Update

His surgery is scheduled for tomorrow, January 19, at 1:30 pm. Please, keep him and the rest of the Wolfe family in your prayers throughout the day tomorrow. xo

Praying for Baby Grant

Precious Grant was born Monday night, January 11th and is the sweet son of our friends and former neighbors, Heath and Leah, and the little brother of his super big brother, Owen. Grant has a congenital diaphragmatic hernia which means that the diaphragm separating his stomach and intestines from his heart and lungs has a hole in it.  His intestines and part of his stomach came up thru this hole and are bunched up against his lungs not allowing him to breath on his own.  They won't know the full extent of the lung damage or be able to see how fully his lungs were formed before this until they do the surgery.  They are hoping this may be early to mid next week.  There are a whole lot of factors that go into the decision of when's he's strong enough to make it thru the surgery and they are tracking those literally hour by hour.

Please join us in praying for this sweet baby and his family.  Pray for God's strength to carry them from one hour to the next ... from one day to the next.

Since the moment we heard of Grant, they have consumed my thoughts. My heart has been heavy, but I have peace in knowing that God is in control. Grant is in His hands and there's no better place to be. As we continue to pray, I hold on to these words:
