It's been a rough couple of weeks in the Greenway household. At the beginning of last week, Oti Greenway came down with a virus - she definitely wasn't her usual chipper self and couldn't eat or drink anything without adverse effects. Miss Briley Greenway started showing signs of a virus Wed. night. At this point, it's not pretty at the Greenway house and the Paulk Family Christmas weekend is quickly approaching. Surely we're not going to get sick and miss seeing everyone in South GA for the second year in a row!? Gram is waiting with gifts galore and it's been too long since we've seen her and the rest of the family - Amber and I are thinking "C'mon, it's Briley's first Paulk Christmas trip and it's such a blast seeing everyone, catching up, playing games, and just being with those you love." As hard as we tried to get well, it only got worse. Oti made a trip to the vet on Friday and after tests, 2 chewed out IVs, 2 fluid injections under the skin, and a bag of medicine she finally came home that night - she's not happy, but at least she's getting rehydrated. In the meantime, Briley can't keep anything down, I(Brett) am getting a cold, and it's clear we can't go to Ocilla to share our love or funk. We survived a rough weekend - Oti seems to be feeling better, but Briley is just not herself. On Monday, the Dr. says Briley is mildly dehydrated, but a rough night sends us back to the Dr. on Tues. and then on to be admitted to the hospital. I don't think Briley would agree that it was worth it, but after several needle sticks and an IV, the nurse gave her a little stuffed bear who later became known as Rudolph the Red Sweater Bear. As I type, Briley is laughing at Nonna trying to "get her" - It's music to Daddy's ears! Briley looks much better, is getting back to her old self, and we all are praying that we'll go home in a couple of hours. And hopefully so ends the story of the Green Greenways and Rudolph the Red Sweater Bear.Thank you to my awesome wife for taking care of us all and to Nonna & Gigi for all your love and help!
